Innovative Genomics for Cardiovascular Health

OUR RESEARCH

Towards a healthier world

Advanced molecular profiling

We strive to be at the forefront of innovation in cardiovascular molecular profiling. Single cell/nucleus RNA and chromatin accessibility, spatial transcriptomics, multimodal profiling, and long-read transcriptional profiling are used to understand the dynamics of cardiovascular function in health and dysfunction in humans and model organisms.

Variants to mechanisms for human health and disease

The past decade of research has been immensely successful in identifying genetic underpinnings of cardiovascular disease risk. Yet how these genetic signatures confer that risk remains unclear. Each associated genomic locus offers unique insight into the biology of cardiovascular disease risk, we need only unlock them for translational research using a multidisciplinary approach spanning from molecular analysis, advanced gene editing, and high-throughput physiological profiling

Non-canonical models of cardiovascular adaptation

The animal kingdom offers myriad "solutions" to key problems in cardiovascular health, yet as a field we largely limit our research to humans and a handful of canonical model systems. We instead aim to identify the mechanisms of extreme cardiovascular adaptation in species ranging from giraffes to grizzly bears with the hope of finding keys to our next cardiovascular therapeutic strategy and enhancing conservation efforts.

Collaborative science

Science is no longer siloed and is instead best performed by collaborative teams with wide ranging expertise. If any of the above is useful to your research, do not hesitate to reach out. We are open to arrangements ranging from informal advice on how to perform your analysis to formal collaborative support for your grant, manuscript or industrial project.
