May 2026: Welcome to our summer researchers

Every summer, the Tucker lab typically welcomes undergraduate researchers looking to learn a bit more about biomedical research, get the experience to help with MD/PhD applications, or just contribute to a lab whose goal is bettering cardiovascular health. They bring great energy and enthusiasm to the lab, which is inspiring and energizing for a bunch of grumpy old hands like the majority of the laboratory. This summer we are happy to welcome four volunteers. First, Andrew Hoehner from Cornell University, who just finished his Freshman year and is learning the basics of wet lab work. Second, Jaden Pena from Syracuse University, a soon to be Junior who is looking towards a medical profession in the future. He's been helping out by learning tissue processing and molecular QC. Third, Rinsola Olubayo from Cornell College (in Iowa), a SURF participant who is leading computational analysis of diet induced changes in the macaque brain. And finally, Dom Lomonaco, who we were fortunate to meet at the former lab location and is now an MD student here at Upstate. Dom helps supervise the undergraduate volunteers while also leading processing of whole genome sequencing and single nucleus sequencing for a variety of our projects.
